Case Study: Riverside Views With Origin Windows
Summer is just around the corner, so it must be time for another case study. This month, we’re looking back at a project that put us all in a bright and cheery mood, befitting the warmer months. Here at Reading Trade Windows, we’ve worked on homes in all sorts of areas and this one had some really delightful views. This job was part of a major renovation and we loved contributing to a dream home.
For this one, we took a short drive up the A329 to the picturesque village of Purley On Thames. A married couple were conducting an extensive revamp of their riverside home so they could take advantage of their stunning surroundings. Alongside our regular collaborators Abbey Windows, we were involved in replacing a set of sliding doors and installing several new windows.
An Origin Upgrade
When we first arrived, this property had wooden sliding doors. They were rustic and homey, but they were also showing their age and their best days were behind them. They’d become difficult to operate and the owners were experiencing problems with draughts and leaks.
After a consultation with our team, the homeowner soon decided to invest in some contemporary aluminium bifold doors from Origin. They opted for two sets of three-panel bifold doors on the ground floor, separated by a large wooden beam that ran through the house. This created a seamless link between the living room and garden and helped draw attention to the riverfront outside.
They complemented this with two matching sets of bifold doors on the upper floor. This opened their kitchen and dining room onto a balcony and created a vibrant, airy space to enjoy peaceful summer evenings on the banks of the Thames. These doors were positioned below a large gable end window and consequently, the upstairs area took on a very bright, open atmosphere.
All these doors were easy to operate and a notable improvement on the timber doors they replaced. As there was no wood used in their construction, they were more durable and less prone to water damage than their predecessors. They were also extremely attractive and stylish and helped give this house a perfect contemporary vibe.
Waterproof Aluminium Windows
Impressed with the quality and service of their bifold doors, the homeowners got back in touch again. They wanted to continue their renovation with several new windows and were interested in using more Origin products. Two fixed-pane Origin aluminium windows were connected to the upstairs bifold doors and positioned at the same height to give a full panoramic landscape view.
That wasn’t all. They were so impressed with the Origin products as installed by our team that they invested in some aluminium casement windows for the kitchen and living room as well. These were given an Anthracite Grey powder coating which contrasted with the dark wooden beams of the house. They also benefit from being long-lasting, scratch resistant and far less likely to fade.
Installing aluminium bifold doors and windows has added a unique, modern touch to this delightful riverside home. The homeowners were very satisfied with the quick turnaround and can now enjoy wide, unobstructed views of their delightful surroundings.
